Council is seeking a Traffic Engineer to help shape the future of local transport infrastructure Your new local council We are currently seeking an experienced Temporary Traffic Engineer to join a regional council team on a 3month contract, supporting key traffic management and road safety functions during a period of vacancy. This role suits a proactive engineer who can step in quickly, manage competing priorities, and deliver practical, communityfocused outcomes. Your new role Develop strategic and operational plans for traffic management and road safety. Prepare and support delivery of capital works programs related to traffic and road safety. Assess and respond to NHVR permit applications via the NHVR Portal. Investigate traffic, parking, school crossing and road safety issues arising from customer enquiries, complaints and crash data. Deliver the annual traffic survey program. Assist with road safety and traffic management policy development. Support road safety grant applications and manage funded projects, including reporting obligations. Liaise with internal council teams, contractors and external authorities. Ensure timely and professional resolution of customer requests. What you'll need to succeed Degree in Civil Engineering or substantial experience in traffic engineering and road safety. Demonstrated experience implementing traffic and road safety policies and procedures. Strong understanding of Australian Standards and the Road Management Act. Confident decisionmaker with a solutionsfocused and customeroriented approach. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
