Position Type: Fixed Term Full Time (Up to 29 June 2027, 9 day fortnight, 38 hours/week)
Salary Range: Base Salary $33.64 per hour + super plus overtime and penalty rates dependent on work performed. Additional entitlements and overtime do not form part of the advertised base salary

Join an exciting and extremely important hands-on program making a real difference in protecting our environment in Townsville as part of the Yellow Crazy Ant Management Program.
In this dynamic, field-based role, you’ll work alongside a small, tight-knit team of Environmental Field Worker led by an experienced Crew Leader, tackling invasive ant infestations across a wide range of terrains, from farmland and remote mountain areas to residential properties, roadsides, parklands, and industrial sites. Your day-to-day will include conducting surveys, monitoring and treating infestations, accurately identifying Yellow Crazy Ants, and applying your knowledge of their life cycle and spread to help stop them in their tracks.
You’ll get to use a variety of equipment such as backpack blowers, GPS units, radios, traps, and microscopes, while also contributing to reporting and data collection using modern tech like tablets and MS Office. If you enjoy outdoor work, practical tasks, and being part of a program with real environmental impact, this is your chance to be on the front line.
Qualifications And Experience
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Ability and willingness to work in remote environments including but not limited to, farmland, untrekked mountains and other natural bushland, residential properties, roadsides, parkland, construction and industrial sites
* Ability to safely operate a range of light plant items, machinery and equipment associated with Yellow Crazy Ant management works
* Sound oral and written communication skills with the ability to work professionally and effectively with others
* Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to achieve effective solutions to challenges
* Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and accurately report on-ground observations
* Knowledge of the Microsoft Suite and field equipment (e.g. data loggers, GPS, etc.)
Essential Requirements Of The Role Include
* Positive Notice Blue Card – Working with Children Queensland, or ability to obtain
* Ability to obtain a Townsville City Council Authorised Persons and Local Government Worker Card
* Current Manual \"C\" Class license
* Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD)
Desirable Qualifications And Experience Include
* Certificate III Conservation and Land Management or similar qualification
* First Aid/CPR Certificate
