We are seeking a skilled Pastry Maker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating high-quality pastries and baked goods, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
About the Role
The Pastry Maker will be responsible for developing new products, estimating costs, and ordering supplies. They will also be responsible for monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation, reporting and communicating with management, demonstrating techniques, and advising on cooking procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Developing pastry products, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering supplies;
* Maintaining high standards of dish quality throughout preparation and presentation;
* Reporting and communicating with management to ensure seamless operations;
* Demonstrating culinary techniques and providing advice on cooking procedures;
* Preparing, baking, and decorating a variety of pastries, cakes, and other baked goods;
* Maintaining hygiene, food safety, and sanitation standards in all pastry preparation areas;
* Freezing and preserving foods as required;
* Training staff in pastry-making techniques and decorating methods.
Requirements
* Minimum 2+ years of experience as a pastry cook;
* Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results;
* A strong appreciation of flavour and cooking techniques, with a willingness to learn new skills and ideas;
* Excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively with others;
* An understanding of Japanese flavours and ingredients;
* Organised and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability;
* Able to work more than 6 months without interruption.
