Traffic Engineer Job Description
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in traffic and transport engineering, with experience in traffic planning, transport design, and the application of LATM principles. The role involves responding to community traffic and parking enquiries, conducting on-site inspections, and delivering engineering assessments and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Traffic and Transport Investigations: Assisting in the investigation and analysis of traffic incidents, accidents, and other issues that affect road safety and traffic flow.
* Planning and Design: Participating in the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, and public transportation systems.
* Event and Operational Support: Coordinating traffic management for special events, festivals, and construction works, ensuring minimal disruptions to traffic and pedestrians.
* Development Assessment: Reviewing development applications and providing detailed traffic-related comments and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
* Local Traffic Committee Support: Preparing reports and documentation for local traffic committees, participating in stakeholder meetings, and providing expert advice on traffic-related matters.
* Strategic Input: Supporting the development and implementation of long-term transportation strategies, such as bike plans, pedestrian access and mobility plans, and parking schemes.
* Community Engagement: Working closely with residents, businesses, and external agencies to provide expert guidance and support on a wide range of traffic and transport matters.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Degree Qualifications: A degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering is essential for this role.
* Proven Experience: Proven experience in traffic planning, transport design, and the application of LATM principles is required.
* Skill Requirements: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and negotiation, are essential.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software, such as AutoCAD, is necessary.
* Certifications: Class C Driver's Licence and Traffic Control accreditation are required.
