Role Overview The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving production machinery within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role suits someone with strong mechanical aptitude, a proactive attitude towards breakdown prevention, and the ability to work effectively on an afternoon shift with frequent overtime opportunities. Key Responsibilities Conduct mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on production equipment, packaging machinery, conveyors and processing lines. Perform preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and maximise plant reliability. Respond to breakdowns promptly to reduce downtime and ensure production continuity. Assist with equipment changeovers, setups and adjustments. Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate maintenance records and comply with QA, HACCP and GMP standards. Work collaboratively with production teams and other trades. Ensure all work is performed safely in line with WHS requirements. Skills & Experience Required Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter. Previous experience in food or FMCG manufacturing is essential. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, pumps, gearboxes and conveyors. Experience working in high-speed, high-volume environments. Ability to fault-find quickly and work under pressure during breakdowns. Understanding of HACCP, GMP and quality compliance requirements. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently during shift. Willingness to work regular overtime. Benefits Competitive pay: $50-$55ph shift loadings.
