We are partnering with a large metropolitan local council in Sydney to source an experienced Procurement Specialist for a contract engagement commencing in January 2026. This role will suit a seasoned public sector procurement professional who can confidently manage end-to-end sourcing activities and act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders across a diverse portfolio of spend. The Opportunity Reporting into a central procurement function, you will provide specialist procurement support across council business units, ensuring sourcing activities are delivered in line with NSW local government legislation, probity requirements and best-practice procurement principles. You will play a hands-on role running procurement activities while also contributing to broader procurement performance, governance and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Lead and deliver simple and complex sourcing events, including RFQs, RFTs, EOIs and panel arrangements Provide strategic and practical procurement advice to internal stakeholders, acting as a proactive business partner Manage multiple tenders across a broad range of categories simultaneously Prepare procurement documentation including go-to-market strategies, evaluation plans, contracts and probity documentation Support contract negotiation and execution with successful suppliers Ensure procurement activities align with relevant legislation, policies and probity standards Use e-tendering and financial systems to support procurement and contract management activities Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes and practices About You You will bring strong local government or public sector procurement experience and be comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment. Essential experience includes: Extensive experience in procurement, tendering or contract management roles Demonstrated experience running competitive sourcing processes within a public sector or regulated environment Strong understanding of probity, governance and value-for-money principles Proven ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations independently High integrity, sound judgement and excellent communication skills Desirable: Experience in waste management or environmental services procurement Familiarity with NSW local government procurement legislation and guidelines Experience using e-tendering and financial management systems *Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply If this sounds like you, APPLY NOW!
