We're looking for a Product Designer to support the design and development of Fleur Studios furniture and homewares collections.
Working closely with our Founder and Creative Director, this role helps translate ideas into technically sound, production-ready designs. You'll be involved in the process from conceptualisation through to final product, working with materials, drawings and prototypes to bring ideas to life.
Fleur Studios is a design-led brand creating timeless, sculptural furniture and objects for modern spaces. We care deeply about materiality, craftsmanship and considered design - and we value people who take pride in getting the details right.
This is a hands-on role with real involvement in the design process, working closely with the founder and seeing your work move from concept through to finished product.
What you'll be doing
* Support the design and development of new furniture and object concepts from initial idea through to production.
* Work closely with our Director to refine design and construction details with a strong focus on materiality and craft.
* Develop clear technical drawings and documentation suitable for prototyping and manufacturing.
* Review construction methods and recommend materials, joinery or methods where needed to improve performance, manufacturability or cost.
* Create and manage CAD files including 3D models, assemblies, detailed drawings and specifications for suppliers.
* Apply a strong working knowledge of materials including marble, stone, wood, metals such as stainless steel and brass.
* Consider structural integrity, tolerances, finishes and production constraints throughout the design process.
* Liaise with suppliers, fabricators and manufacturers to clarify details and resolve technical challenges.
* Support prototyping, sampling and revisions through to final production sign-off.
* Maintain organised design files, drawings and version control across projects.
What we're looking for:
* Strong aesthetic judgement with a deep appreciation for proportion, geometry and materiality.
* 3-5 years experience in furniture, object or industrial design, ideally working on material-led products with a strong technical focus.
* Proven ability to translate concepts into detailed, production-ready designs.
* Solid understanding of materials such as stone, marble, timber and metal.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. Rhino, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar).
* Comfortable producing detailed technical drawings, dimensions and specifications.
* Highly detail-oriented with a practical, problem-solving mindset.
* Strong communicator who enjoys collaborating with designers, suppliers and manufacturers.
* Experience working with prototypes, samples and production workflows.
* Ability to balance aesthetic intent with engineering constraints and cost targets.
* Organised, adaptable and comfortable managing multiple priorities as projects evolve.
* Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical or Furniture Engineering (or equivalent experience) is a plus.
This role can be part-time or full-time depending on the applicant. This role can also be completed remotely so we are open to interstate applicants.
Please submit your resume along with a cover letter and portfolio or examples of your work.
