We are currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Glasshouse Technician to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive and science-driven environment focused on the future of Australian agriculture.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the sowing, growing, crossing and harvesting of cereal crops within a controlled glasshouse environment.
* Perform routine plant maintenance, including watering, fertilising, pest and disease management.
* Monitor environmental conditions and ensure optimal plant health and growth.
* Accurately collect and record data to support breeding and research programs.
* Operate and maintain glasshouse equipment and systems in accordance with safety standards.
* Collaborate with plant breeders and technical staff to deliver high-quality outcomes.
About You
* Experience working in a glasshouse, nursery, or similar horticultural/agricultural environment is highly desirable.
* Relevant horticultural and agricultural experience includes commercial nurseries, research facilities, market gardens, hydroponic farms, and agricultural laboratories.
* Minimum 1-2 years experience in glasshouse, nursery or horticultural environments is required.
* Experience requirements will be assessed on a case-by-case basis where candidates may not meet all specified criteria.
* A genuine interest in plant science, crop production, or plant breeding.
* Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
* Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling tasks.
* A qualification in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
* Australian work rights are essential as no visa sponsorship is available for this position.
