About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to undertake a combination of cleaning, food & beverage delivery, patient and non-patient related transportation and support across the facility; in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. The effective and efficient cleaning of the facility; including public, staff, inpatient and clinical areas; together with the operation of waste disposal and recycling systems; ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff in accordance with the Victorian Healthcare Cleaning Standards.
Barwon Health’s McKellar Centre offers a range of rehabilitation services that enable people to make a dynamic recovery. It is situated on a vibrant community asset with parkland surrounds and incorporates state-of-the-art equipment. Adzen is a high level secure unit at McKellar Centre that provides residential care for older people suffering from Dementia and is conveniently located in North Geelong. As well as anaesthesia services, the department also manages the acute and chronic pain services, and the peri-operative unit, including cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPX) for pre-operative assessment of patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high standards of cleaning and infection control across clinical and non-clinical areas, including patient rooms, bathrooms, and shared spaces
* Maintain floors, furnishings, and equipment through routine and deep cleaning, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment
* Manage waste, linen, and consumables, including patient laundry handling and restocking essential supplies
* Prepare and reset patient rooms, including bed making, discharge/terminal and isolation cleans, and equipment turnaround
* Support ward operations with meal service, basic food handling, room setup, and maintaining tidy, presentable facilities
What we’re looking for
* Mandatory compliance checks: NDIS Worker Screening & Working with Children Check
* Commitment to organisational values, EEO, confidentiality, and policy adherence
* Strong focus on safety, including infection control and occupational health practices
* Ability to work independently or in a team within established procedures
* Relevant practical capability: English proficiency, physical fitness, and commercial cleaning skills
