About the Role
* The role of Market Risk Model Validation senior quantitative analyst (4.1) is responsible for leading validation of risk models across Traded Market Risk (TMR) & Non-Traded Market Risk (NTMR), as well as Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR); a senior quantitative analyst would be expected to lead a stream for risk engine implementation validations or regulatory capital model validations.
* The role also entails leadership of quantitative risk engagement in new product development, and provides quantitative subject matter expertise, thought leadership and responsibility for decision-making in engaging with a range of stakeholders across Markets Risk (all areas & asset classes)
* The role also involves leading MRMV (Markets Risk Model Validation) MMV activity in support of Regulatory projects and in engagement with Audit and acting on any resultant remediation work.
* This role reports to the Head of Markets Risk Model Validation and would be expected to both mentor & manage more junior team members in the conduct of larger pieces of quant work.

What will your day look like?
Financial
* Lead the validation of risk models and implementations of risk engine or regulatory capital standard models – this covers TMR, NTMR & CCR, both systems and bespoke models
* Lead validation work in meeting Regulatory & Audit commitments; Lead Audit engagements where appropriate
* Provide stakeholder management, prioritisation & assistance to ensure smooth operations of risk measurement and reporting systems within Markets Risk; provide quantitative support and assistance to Product managers, Technology and reporting functions in day-to-day activities of Markets Risk.
* Keep abreast of changes in operating environment and regulations (APRA, MAS or International regulation as required), and assess any potential impacts on Validation requirements
* Provide strategic advice to the Co-Heads of MMV and thought leadership within Risk MMV in discussion of risk, regulatory and validation issues and how they will be handled.
Risk:
* Maintain, in fact and in appearance, appropriate independence from model ownership and methodology development in all validations
* Lead quantitative work & engagements with other risk stakeholders to ensure the integrity of risk systems and the risk metrics they generate for ANZ's Trading operations
* Lead in the remediation of Audit issues and ensure all op risk, compliance and risk requirements of the job are 100% met.
* Contribute, by example and through leadership and management of more junior team members, to the development and maintenance of an excellent risk culture within MRMV; help build a team which is a valued partner of all other Mkts Risk teams in addressing risk & regulatory issues.
Customer:
* Provide proactive risk support to Markets Risk product managers & other Mkts Risk teams, as well as to associated functions (Finance, Front Office, technology etc)
* Provide technical & quant assistance, and lead engagement with other Mkts Risk teams to increase their technical & quant skills
* Lead effective engagement with all stakeholders in project work; negotiate project priorities, influence decisions, communicate them effectively & foresee & navigate issues to ensure efficient delivery
* Provide strategic advice to the Head of MRMV & other members of MRLT where appropriate, regarding quantitative risk issues and their prioritisation.
People:
* Lead productive engagement with key stakeholders & communicate quant issues effectively to ensure informed planning.
* Maintain and enhance quantitative knowledge across asset classes and areas of risk to maximise versatility and assistance to the broader Mkts Risk function; contribute to disseminating knowledge and experience to junior team members
* Build a good team culture of speaking up, learning & collaboration, and be accountable for creating a team reputation for selflessly assisting the broader Mkts Risk function
* Either on a permanent basis, or on a tactical basis to meet short-medium term project goals, manage one or more of the more junior members of the team; at the same time, become a trusted advisor.
What will you bring?
'Must have' knowledge, skills and experiences
* Extensive experience in financial markets across a number of asset classes, and across TMR, NTMR & CCR
* Very strong analytical skills and deep knowledge of financial mathematics, including the pricing and risk-attributes of derivatives products (swaps, options, exotics)
* Very strong computational finance skills, including some programming expertise (C/C++, VBA, or Python etc)
* Very strong understanding of markets risk concepts such as VaR, sensitivities, FVA, CVA, CSA-aware discounting etc and their mathematical calculation and properties
* Excellent interpersonal, communications &presentation skills with ability to work cross-functionally, across different business areas and stakeholder groups, and to provide strategic input to more senior management & synthesise complex information
* Experience in dealing with Auditors & Regulators
* Strong leadership and management skills
'Good to have' knowledge, skills and experiences
* Extensive experience in Markets Risk
* Advanced degree in a quantitative field of study (Maths, Physics, Actuarial Studies or Quant Finance etc)
* Some demonstrated leadership and management skills
