The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Barista/Cafe Allrounder. In this role, you will create a welcoming atmosphere for residents and their families to socialize over hot or cold beverages and snacks.
Typical responsibilities include:
* Welcome and serve customers with a friendly and helpful attitude.
* Serve a range of snacks and beverages, including hot and cold sandwiches, cakes, muffins, etc.
* Prepare and serve hot and cold (non-alcoholic) beverages, requiring a barista certificate and excellent coffee-making skills.
* Clean the kitchen, service areas, and dining area around the coffee shop.
* Follow daily, weekly, and monthly procedures to maintain high-quality cafe operations.
* Collaborate with the Chef Manager to discuss supply needs for the cafe.
* Evaluate and ensure the cafe area is free of hazards, trips, slips, or other safety issues.
* Maintain a professional, respectful, and inviting cafe environment that reflects positively on our organization.
* Provide backup support in dining room service when required.
This role involves physical activities, such as bending, squatting, lifting, and pushing items to perform daily tasks safely.
About You
We value attitude and aptitude; experience in aged care is not necessary. Formal qualifications like a Cert II in Hospitality are highly regarded, but a friendly disposition, willingness to help, and experience in customer service or hospitality (retail, coffee shop, bar, restaurant) are more important.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
* Demonstrated barista and cafe hospitality experience with a passion for friendly customer service.
* A strong safety attitude and vigilance in hazard removal.
* The ability to work independently, be a self-starter, confident, and communicate well, especially with kitchen staff.
* Problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to perform at a high standard.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to make people feel welcome.
