About this role
Maintenance Manager – Somersby

At CSR, we're building a better future together.

We are a team of 2,600 people across Australia and New Zealand, and we are all collaborating every single day towards a shared purpose - 'Building solutions for a better future'. As a leading Australian Manufacturing business, we're at the forefront of developing innovative, sustainable, and high performing building products and systems.

At CSR, we put people first. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, supportive, and inclusive working environment that enables everyone to feel valued, grow and truly thrive. We are committed to providing equal opportunity for everyone and welcoming people of all backgrounds, identities, experiences, abilities, and life stage.

About the role

At our Hebel Manufacturing site, we don't just maintain equipment — we keep a 24/7 operation running safely, reliably and efficiently.

Based in Somersby, this is a hands-on leadership role in a high-performing manufacturing environment. You'll lead a sizeable maintenance function across two production lines (one legacy plant, one near-new facility), supporting 24/7 operations with fortnightly shutdowns and an on-call component.

This is a role for a true people leader — someone who sets standards, drives accountability, builds culture and isn't afraid to get out on the floor when it counts.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager is accountable for all aspects of maintenance, minor improvements and capital investment across the site.

This is a complex, high-output environment that demands strong leadership and disciplined execution.

Key responsibilities:

* Lead weekly maintenance meetings
* Drive safety KPIs and environmental compliance
* Manage budgets and cost control
* Plan and execute shutdowns
* Oversee breakdown response and root cause
* Implement and embed preventative maintenance systems
* Lift plant performance and OEE
* Manage contractors and ensure WSHE compliance
* Establish and optimise spare parts strategies
* Deliver minor works and capital projects on time and on budget

You'll also work closely with operations, quality and engineering to improve reliability, performance and culture across the site.

About you:

This role suits someone from heavy industry, manufacturing or FMCG who understands the realities of a 24/7 plant.

* Trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter preferred) or Engineering background
* 10+ years' experience leading maintenance teams within manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
* Proven ability to lead cultural change and build team accountability
* Strong safety leadership track record
* Experience planning shutdowns and managing breakdowns
* Exposure to capital works projects
* SAP or CMMS experience (SAP preferred)
* Solid mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
* Confidence managing stakeholders — including exposure to unionised environments

Mechanical background is ideal, but we're open to strong leaders who understand how to build capability in their teams.

What we offer

We strive to support your professional and personal growth. Here are some of the perks you'll enjoy as part of the CSR team:

1. Attractive salary and benefits, including access to exclusive discounts and offers.

2. Supportive and collaborative culture that fosters innovation and inclusion. You'll be surrounded by talented colleagues who are passionate about their work and committed to helping each other succeed.
3. Care and wellbeing offer includes up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave, 52 weeks of superannuation
