We’re recruiting an experienced CNC Laser Operator to join a well‑established, locally owned steel processing business in Hope Valley. This is a long‑term opportunity offering strong hourly rates, penalties, and the chance to join a stable team with excellent staff retention.

Our client is a family‑owned steel processing and laser cutting business, operating in Perth since 2008. With over 55 employees and continued growth, they specialise in steel plate processing for the mining, oil & gas, construction, manufacturing and engineering sectors.

👷 The Role

As a CNC Laser Operator, your duties will include:

* Operating CNC laser cutting machines (Bystronic or similar)
* Loading and unloading steel plates
* Operating overhead cranes and forklifts
* Reading and interpreting job sheets and technical drawings
* Preparing and checking parts for dispatch
* Carrying out basic equipment checks and upkeep
* Supporting general workshop tasks as required
You’ll be comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative production team.

⏰ Shifts & Hours

This role operates across rotating shifts. Candidates must be able to work all three:

* Day Shift:
Mon–Thu 5:00am–2:00pm | Fri 5:00am–12:00pm
* Afternoon Shift:
Mon–Thu 1:00pm–10:00pm | Fri 12:00pm–6:00pm
* Night Shift:
Mon–Thu 9:00pm–6:00am | Fri 6:00pm–1:00am
Shifts rotate approximately once per month.

✅ What You’ll Need

* Proven experience operating CNC laser cutting machines (Bystronic or similar)
* Plasma cutting experience
* Current LF forklift licence (mandatory)
* Overhead crane licence (mandatory)
* Strong ability to read and interpret drawings
* Reliable, punctual and safety‑focused
* Physically capable of workshop duties
* Valid Australian working rights
* Current driver’s licence with reliable transport
💰 Pay & Penalties
* $40/hr + penalties – CNC Laser experience (A‑grade)
* $38/hr + penalties – Plasma or smaller laser experience (B‑grade)
Shift loadings:
* +15% afternoon shift
* +30% night shift
This is a full‑time role, with the intention to move permanent for the right person.
