School Engagement Program Leader – NSW / ACT
Location: THQ Redfern (Full Time – Permanent)
Responsibilities
* Relationship Management
o Grow the profile of the Schools Program by networking with the education sector and identifying new opportunities.
o Promote the work of The Salvation Army and opportunities for engaging with students and teachers.
o Build and manage key high‐level school relationships.
o Collaborate with area officers, corps officers, social program managers and the National Schools Engagement Team to integrate national objectives.
o Coordinate and deliver school workshops, including face‐to‐face education, administration, safeguarding, WHS and evaluation.
o Lead, encourage, and support school activation activities and fundraising campaigns.
o Provide clear communication and efficient reporting to ensure smooth program operations.
* Program Coordination
o Coordinate and deliver all components of school workshops (face‐to‐face, administration, safeguarding/WHS, evaluation).
o Support school engagement in fundraising initiatives such as the Red Shield Appeal and Christmas Appeal.
o Maintain accurate records and logistics for event participation.
* Communications & Portfolio Support
o Recruit schools and students for fundraising activities.
o Assist with event coordination and attendance for fundraising campaigns.
o Contribute to broader external communications and campaigns as required.
* Safety & Compliance
o Ensure all working‐with‐children requirements are met; training and checks remain current.
o Complete risk assessments for all children‐involved programs.
o Adhere to all WHS requirements.
Qualifications
* Soft Skills
o Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills.
o Effective rapport building with leaders and youth.
o Excellent written and verbal communication, including public speaking.
o Strong risk management skills and child‐safety orientation.
* Technical Skills
o Knowledge and experience in the education sector.
o Experience delivering educational programs.
o Project management skills, including long‐term project delivery.
o Understanding of social justice issues.
o Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet.
* Tertiary qualification in education, communications, community development, youth work, social work or equivalent experience.
* Current driver's licence.
* Valid Working with Children Check.
* Criminal history (police) check.
