Synopsis: Network Development Planner Ongoing Full-Time Icon Water Level 4 Zone A Salary Range - $115,479- $140,797 About the role We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a Network Development Planner to join Icon Water. This role is part of the Strategy and Growth Planning team, with the primary responsibility to contribute to improvements to our Growth Planning Framework and initiation and planning for individual projects related to the development and growth of our networks in meeting future service requirements. This role will contribute to developing business positions in new areas to enable delivery of the required projects and changes to Icon Water business practices, improving integrated planning outcomes for the ACT community and surrounding region. This position also supports ACT water resource strategy and policy. This role requires strong communication skills, drive and an inquisitive nature. Value will be added by understanding the ACT planning and development landscape and maintaining productive working relationships with major developers, ACT Government representatives and other stakeholders. About your new role Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with various internal Icon Water stakeholders to determine the business implications of changes in integrated planning, determine possibilities, obstacles and desired outcomes, delivering change in business practices. Support engagement with key stakeholders in Government and industry to ensure integration of Icon Water’s current and future planning requirements. Support maintaining collaborative relationships with major developers to understand their development requirements. For specific developments, scope and recommend a preferred business position (following extensive analysis and exploration of options) and once approved, use this to the support negotiating appropriate commercial outcomes for Icon Water. Initiate projects in accordance with the Growth Service Plan as required. Where appointed as the Project Sponsor Delegate, responsibilities include key decisions relating to requirements, benefits, and scope development, through to handover acceptance. Manage other integrated planning initiatives identified through team business planning. Stages may encompass: ideating, scoping, functional specifications, optioneering, evaluating, selecting, business case, buy-in, approval, executing, monitoring and reviewing. This includes determining the optimal stage to handover to the initiative to the business and driving seamless transition. Support the development of Icon Water positions on water resource planning and policy objectives. This includes working with the Senior Policy Advisor to prepare advice on the impact of key government policy or Icon Water strategic direction. Keep abreast of current water industry practices, technologies and regulatory environments to maintain currency of industry knowledge for incorporation into Icon Water projects and initiatives. Support preparation of reports, presentations, status updates to governance forums as required. Build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Our ideal candidate will possess: Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline such as science, engineering, planning or equivalent. Significant experience (e.g. 5 years) in the water industry or infrastructure development field. Demonstrated collaboration skills to work effectively across the organisational structure to deliver required outcomes. Experience presenting complicated information in a succinct and clear manner. Experience in overseeing the design and/or delivery of infrastructure and/or non-capital projects, ideally within the utilities industry. Experience in engaging and influencing with a diverse set of external stakeholders in a commercial environment. Skills and knowledge relating to asset management and the application of a variety of risk analysis methods. Experience in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to manage your own workload and balance priorities. A working knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements in a water utility. Knowledge of the Utilities (Technical Regulation) Act 2014 and technical codes, the Planning Act 2023, ACT Planning Strategy, and the ACT Planning System are desirable Our ideal candidate will be achievement-oriented, setting clear goals and persevering through challenges while maintaining professionalism, integrity, and honesty in their actions.
