The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Regional and Specialist team includes Integrated Specialist Services, Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, Primary Healthcare Services, Birthing and Early Childhood Services (South), and Child and Youth Services. About the Role
Ensure IUIH Adult Occupational Therapists provide high quality and secure Occupational Therapy services aligned with Cultural Integrity Investment Framework, The Ways Statement, clinical guidelines, policies and procedures.
Support reflective practice and continuous quality improvement within the Adult Occupational Therapy team and promote interprofessional practice.
Provide clinical supervision and mentoring and be a resource for the professional development of the IUIH Adult Occupational Therapists and students placed within occupational therapy teams. The Senior Adult Occupational Therapist will provide direct culturally responsive occupational therapy services as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Day‐to‐Day Duties
* Contribute to the overall quality and safety of service delivery, including follow‐up of clinical incidents and improvement strategies.
* In collaboration with the Adult Occupational Therapy Clinic Lead and other key staff, provide ongoing professional clinical leadership, supervision and mentoring of Occupational Therapy staff.
* Orientation to IUIH clinical practice guidelines in Adult Occupational Therapy.
* Ensure ongoing skill development of all Adult Occupational Therapists to maintain competencies relevant to safe clinical practice.
* Assessment and support of clinical skills/practices.
* Address continuous development of clinical skills with the Clinic Lead to identify areas of education for the team and individual clinicians.
* Provide one‐on‐one mentoring in development of skills/practices at least monthly, but more frequently, depending on staff experience/need.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
* Current C Class Driver's Licence (QLD)
* Current Criminal History Check
* AHPRA Registration
* Current Disability Worker Screening Check (Qld Yellow Card)
* Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
* Relevant degree in Occupational Therapy
* Minimum of five years' experience as an Occupational Therapist with an adult caseload
Desirable (but not mandatory)
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities
