Staff Specialist – General Physician / Geriatrician (Darwin Region, NT)

We are recruiting on behalf of a prominent public hospital network in Northern Territory, offering a unique opportunity to work across General Medicine and Geriatrics in a collaborative and culturally rich environment.
About the Role
This hybrid position offers flexibility and the chance to contribute to both acute general medicine and geriatric care. You'll be working across two well-respected facilities, including a major tertiary hospital and a regional center that champions innovation in aged care.
You will lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex inpatient cases, with a strong focus on discharge planning and continuity of care. This role is ideally suited to a dual-qualified FRACP specialist with a passion for culturally responsive care and leadership in challenging clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Consultant-level care for inpatients in a General Medical Unit
* Geriatric service across:
o Acute Care of the Elderly ward
o Geriatric Evaluation & Management (GEM) ward
o Interim Care Unit
* Active involvement in junior doctor supervision and team leadership
* Champion safe, timely discharge and community engagement strategies
* Work collaboratively within a multicultural team environment
Essential Requirements
* Specialist registration with AHPRA
* Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in:
o General and Acute Care Medicine AND
o Geriatric Medicine
* Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary teams
* Strong communication and cultural competency skills
