The Role
You will be based Hume, ACT, and supervise all workshop operations. You will look after heavy vehicles, forklifts, compactors and plant machinery. In this hands‑on leadership role you will supervise our internal team and coordinate the efforts of subcontractors.
What You'll Do
Lead your team with hands‑on guidance and effective mentoring
Quickly diagnose and repair our modern diesel trucks, forklifts, compactors, and plant equipment
Prioritize urgent breakdowns to minimize downtime in a fast-paced environment
Schedule and coordinate maintenance, ensuring all machinery remains service-ready and compliant
Manage procurement and inventory, raise POs, order parts, track stock, and oversee admin
Maintain accurate records of fleet logs, maintenance history, and compliance documentation
Serve as the key liaison for suppliers, contractors, logistics, and operations teams
Enforce safety & compliance protocols, including inductions, procedures, and contractor oversight
What You Bring
Qualified diesel mechanic with an HR driver's license (mandatory)
Demonstrated experience with heavy vehicles and plant machinery
Strong procurement and inventory management skills
Competency with maintenance management systems and basic IT tools
A calm and adaptable approach under pressure
Proven leadership experience or willingness to step into a leadership role, managing both employees and subcontractors
Excellent communication and stakeholder liaison abilities
