BMD Constructions is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of projects, contributing to both day-to-day operations and overall project performance.
In this role, you'll take ownership across technical and commercial aspects of delivery, working closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients. You'll also support and mentor engineers, helping to build capability across the team while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
* Maintain strong HSEQ awareness and ensure compliance across all project activities
* Coordinate contract administration, including insurances, bonds and project management plans
* Monitor construction programmes and track project performance
* Prepare and review monthly progress claims and subcontractor statements
* Manage subcontractor and supplier engagement, including negotiation and contract finalisation
* Identify and manage variations, extensions of time (EOTs) and contract risks
* Oversee cost control, including cost analysis, budgeting and monthly valuations
* Manage contract correspondence and maintain strong relationships with clients and consultants
* Coordinate pre-start meetings and regular project meetings with stakeholders
* Identify critical materials and ensure procurement aligns with project timelines
* Lead and mentor engineers, delegating tasks and supporting development
* Contribute to design management and overall project planning activities
About you
* Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
* Demonstrated experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer within construction or infrastructure projects
* Strong understanding of contract administration, cost control and commercial project delivery
* Proven experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholder relationships
* Ability to manage risk, variations and contractual obligations
* Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* High level of organisation and attention to detail
* Commitment to safety, quality and environmental outcomes
* Flexibility to travel to project sites as required
