About the Role
An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as an Elective Surgery & Gastroenterology Booking Officer within the Division of Surgical Specialties and Anaesthetics. The incumbent provides a comprehensive, friendly and patient focused service to patients waiting for elective procedures and undertakes accurate, comprehensive and confidential data entry of patients being waitlisted for elective procedures. The role includes planning and programming elective lists to ensure maximum theatre utilisation and patient flow with consideration to equipment requirements, Length of Stay (LOS) and age.
The incumbent must ensure adherence to the elective surgery guidelines around timeliness, treat‑in‑turn and categorisation priority of patients to minimise risk to the health unit and to maximise the efficacy of theatre operations. Scheduling and managing all required pre‑admission and post‑operative appointments for patients having elective procedures internally or externally is another key outcome, ensuring the accurate capture, amendment and updating of admission information.
