An exciting opportunity within the General Surgery team has become available at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital. Join us in shaping healthier futures. The General Surgeon will provide expert assessment and management of patients within the general surgery service in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).
The responsibilities include:
1. Providing specialist general surgery services to emergency patients, inpatients, and outpatients.
2. Supporting the development of general surgery services.
3. Fostering a culture of learning and best practice.
4. Supporting and developing research within the department.

About Us
ISLHD covers an area of 5,687 km 2 from Helensburgh to North Durras, featuring beaches, rainforests, and festivals. We operate eight hospital sites with over 8,500 staff across 58 locations. Short commutes, ample childcare and schooling, and proximity to Sydney are benefits of our region.
Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy acute care facility with 211 beds, providing emergency, medical, surgical, and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients annually. The hospital includes an Intensive Care Unit, Obstetric Unit, and services for children under 16. It is affiliated with the University of Wollongong, supporting training and research opportunities.
Significant redevelopment is underway, with a $438 million investment to modernize the hospital by mid-2026.
