We have an exciting role for a senior nurse to join us here in Adelaide as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Your role is to provide care coordination, assessment and ongoing supportive therapies to patients under the care of a medical oncologist or haematologist in an outpatient consulting practice. You will work closely with the patients, the Cancer Nurse Consultant, Medical Oncologist/haematologists and relevant multidisciplinary providers to achieve mutually agreed goals of care. The Clinical Nurse Specialist is expected to observe, conceptualize, diagnose, and analyse complex clinical or nonclinical problems within their scope of practice, and to consider a range of theory relevant to understanding those problems and determining possible treatment options.
The role is primarily based at Calvary North Adelaide Kimberly House but there may be occasions to work across other sites or specialties across Adelaide.
More specifically, you will:
1. Draw upon your specialist experience in medical oncology/haematology to provide clinical expertise, education and support for patients under the care of the medical oncologist/haematologist within an outpatient based environment.
2. Deliver ongoing non-systemic therapies including oral, s/c and hormonal therapies in an outpatient based environment.
3. Undertake care coordination to ensure the patient has timely access to additional diagnostic and surveillance tests.
4. Undertake nurse reviews and follow up on pathology and imaging results.
5. Work closely with, and facilitate effective communication and escalation pathways between you and the treating medical oncologist/haematologist.
6. Take responsibility for your own professional development ensuring you are current with ADAC credentialling, all related competencies and mandatory training.
