Bring creativity and compassion to patient care as a Recreation Officer
Join Metro South Health as a part-time Recreation Officer (CA3) based at Logan Hospital, Meadowbrook, working weekends (16 hours per fortnight) to deliver engaging recreation programs that enhance quality of life for inpatients, particularly those with extended hospital stays.

Responsibilities
As a Recreation Officer, you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver meaningful individual and group recreation programs that support patient wellbeing, skill maintenance and positive behaviours, with responsibilities including:

* Planning and delivering safe, engaging recreation programs that enhance quality of life
* Screening patient needs, interests and preferences to develop individualised recreation plans
* Delivering programs under the guidance of allied health professionals
* Working collaboratively within the team while operating autonomously on weekends
* Maintaining accurate documentation, records and activity data
* Ensuring recreation spaces and equipment are clean, safe and well maintained
* Participating in team meetings, supervision, performance development and quality improvement activities
* Upholding workplace health and safety standards and inclusive, respectful care practices

About You
You will bring a genuine passion for patient-centred care and recreation, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, supported by:

* An understanding of the role of recreation in maintaining patient skills, wellbeing and quality of life
* Experience planning, implementing and evaluating individual and group recreation programs
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage patients, families and staff
* The ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively and adapt to change
* Demonstrated initiative, organisation and problem-solving skills
* A relevant qualification such as Certificate IV in Leisure and Health (highly desirable)
* Demonstrated experience in a similar or related role (highly desirable)
* Ability to meet Queensland Health Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) requirements

Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland. We offer a range of services, including medical, rehabilitation, maternity, surgical and paediatric care.

We offer our staff and students extensive support and training in most medical specialties. As a teaching hospital, we help train future health care professionals and participate in research through strong partnerships with Queensland's leading medical schools, universities, and TAFE Queensland.

Our services will continue to grow as we build bigger and better facilities to support the community. By 2027, we'll have more beds and 5 more birthing suites as part of the Logan Hospital expansion.
