Cement Australia is seeking a cement manufacturing leader to provide expert advice to our Production teams. As Operational Excellence Advisor – Production, you will act as an internal consultant and on-site coach to the production team to optimize day-to-day plant operations, build operational discipline, and ensure sustainable delivery of production KPIs. Your role will be focused on transferring best practices, embedding problem‑solving methodologies, and ensuring effective implementation of the Plant Operations Model (POM) and improvement initiatives.
As Operational Excellence Advisor - Production you will:
* Guide and coach production teams on optimal operation of raw mills, kilns, coolers, and cement mills to achieve volume, cost, and quality targets.
* Develop and mentor site teams to develop capability, establishing coaching routines that drive learning by doing.
* Assess and identify process optimisation opportunities, coaching site teams and leading knowledge transfer initiatives.
* Support production and maintenance teams in aligning preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical equipment (kiln, cooler, preheater, mills).
* Coach production engineers on failure analysis, and cross-functional communication with maintenance.
* Advise and support sites on quality, environmental and compliance requirements.
* Coach, facilitate and lead production continuous improvement and change initiatives
* Support teams in developing accurate OPEX/CAPEX inputs and performance tracking models
* Model and reinforce safety leadership behaviours consistent with company H&S standards
* Develop structured training and coaching plans for local engineers, control room operators, and shift leaders
* Act as a mentor and technical advisor to emerging talent within production teams
What You'll Bring
* Bachelor's degree qualifications in Chemical Engineering, Processing Engineering or related discipline. Further qualifications would be viewed favourably.
* 15+ years of experience in cement production operations.
* Considerable knowledge of integrated cement plant production operations.
* Considerable knowledge of cement process optimisation and cement quality standards.
* Proven success in improvement initiatives or high-performance transformation programs.
* Strong leadership, coaching, and facilitation skills with multi-shift teams.
* Fluent communicator able to influence across disciplines and cultures.
