THE COMPANY
Our client operates one of Australia's largest agricultural production portfolios, backed by a global institutional investor with a long-term capital mandate and substantial capital deployment across the sector. The Gippsland VIC region represents a strategically important component of the broader portfolio and plays a critical role in the organisation's ongoing operational and financial performance.
THE ROLE
The General Manager – Gippsland will lead regional operations and partner closely with the executive team to drive performance across a substantial portfolio of assets. This role carries full responsibility for operational outcomes across the region and requires a leader capable of building strong teams, embedding disciplined operating systems, and delivering consistent production and financial performance at scale.
The position oversees 17 farms across Gippsland VIC, leading farm managers and operational teams while managing regional performance, infrastructure programs and operational systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead the operational, financial and safety performance of a large regional portfolio;
* Develop, mentor and lead farm managers and operational teams to build capability and performance;
* Implement disciplined operational processes, systems and reporting frameworks across all sites;
* Oversee capital works, infrastructure projects and contractor management across the region;
* Drive operational consistency, production performance and continuous improvement initiatives;
* Partner with the executive team on budgeting, performance analysis and strategic initiatives;
* Maintain best-practice compliance across WHS, environmental and operational frameworks.
CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for this role candidates must demonstrate the following:
* Tertiary qualifications in agriculture, agribusiness or a related discipline (essential);
* Demonstrated experience managing complex operational portfolios or multiple enterprises within a corporate or large-scale production environment;
* Strong project management capability, including proven experience delivering major infrastructure programs, capital works or operational development projects across multiple sites;
* Proven capability in contract management, project execution and operational delivery;
* A track record of building, leading and developing high-performing operational teams;
* Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting and performance management.
