Position Details

This is a 6 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency.

Champion Bay Senior High School (CBSHS) is the largest Independent Public School in the Midwest region of Western Australia. The Role

The successful applicant will be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. Flexibility in practice will be highly regarded, as well as a commitment to personal and professional growth. The successful applicant should possess high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration within the school community and neighbouring schools.

The successful applicant for this position should be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in team environments. You should possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school Health and Physical Education curriculum. Ideally, as an expert practitioner you should possess a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to complete) is highly desirable.

Teachers at Champion Bay SHS are expected to provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students. You will ideally have knowledge of High Impact Teaching Strategies (Teachwell or similar), formative assessment, Classroom Management System (CMS) approaches in building positive relationships and engaging families in their child's learning. As a teacher at Champion Bay SHS, you will commit to helping to develop and implement our school wide pedagogical framework.

The school has a strong Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) focus, working in a collaborative partnership with local primary schools, industry and tertiary education. The successful applicant will ideally possess the ability to develop innovative classroom practices utilising the school's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure and embed 21st Century Skills within their teaching and learning.

The school has developed strong, innovative partnerships with its local primary schools and community organisations. A commitment to the school's emphasis on pastoral care and social and emotional learning initiatives, will be highly regarded as well as active promotion of the school's vision, moral purpose and values within the school and the wider community.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Champion Bay Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

* hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. More information about employment eligibility can be found on our website.

* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
