We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Lead (APS6) or Project Manager (EL1) to join the Office of Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) within the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB).This is a new team, and you will have the opportunity to shape the culture and work practices as you implement the FWO’s ability to undertake criminal investigation of intentional underpayments across Australia. Full-time and part-time hours and hybrid work arrangements are available.To be considered for the EL1 role, you must satisfy the additional selection criteria requirements set out in this position description. You may apply for the APS6 role, the EL1 role, or both. Offers will be based on candidate performance and operational requirements.About the FWOThe FWO is an independent statutory office established by the Fair Work Act 2009 (Fair Work Act). The branch will establish systems, processes, capabilities, and policies to operate as a dual civil and criminal regulator.The Project Management Office will establish project management frameworks, uplift staff capabilities, and develop relevant processes and guidance materials. This role involves working in a high-profile environment with significant public and stakeholder interest.Typical DutiesAs the Project Lead (APS6) or Project Manager (EL1), key responsibilities include:Leading the implementation of project management frameworks and PMO within the CIBDeveloping and implementing plans to uplift project management capabilities, technologies, and artifactsProviding expertise and leadership on project management best practicesLeading project planning and execution aligned with agency prioritiesOverseeing governance, reporting, and complianceManaging risks, dependencies, and constraintsConducting research and analysis for decision-makingManaging budgets, contracts, and procurement processesEngaging stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and implement change initiativesInterstate and overnight travel may be required.Selection CriteriaTo succeed at both levels, candidates should possess:Proven project management experience with successful initiatives using waterfall and agile methodologiesExpertise in business process improvement and designing future state solutionsAbility to provide technical advice, training, and support throughout project lifecyclesLeadership and collaboration skills to influence change and negotiate agreementsAnalytical skills and attention to detail for quality assuranceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsEL1 candidates must additionally demonstrate:Ability to work autonomously5+ years of experience leading complex initiativesExperience in leading change, mentoring, coaching, and training staffPractitioner-level project management qualifications or certifications (highly desirable)
