Empowering First Nations Youth: A Cultural Mentor Role
This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of First Nations youth. As a Cultural Mentor, you will provide guidance and support to empower these young individuals to thrive in their communities.
The role requires an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, especially in remote areas. You will work closely with community stakeholders, including Aboriginal Elders, families, ACCOs, ACCHOs, schools, and other grassroots community groups.
To be successful in this role, you will need proven skills in engaging and communicating with young people (12-25 years) and their families, being a trusted voice they can connect with. A valid Australian Driver's License and the willingness to travel across various regions are also essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide cultural support and mentorship to Aboriginal Youth Wellbeing Workers
* Assist in the care coordination of complex cases involving First Nations people
Requirements:
* In-depth knowledge of the challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Understanding of the unique issues affecting young people, including health, education, employment, and social and emotional wellbeing
* Hands-on experience working with and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
* Proven skills in engaging and communicating with young people and their families
* A valid Australian Driver's License and the willingness to travel
