Requirements
At least three years of relevant experience.
Must have a trade certificate.
Read, write, and understand English.
Must be able to:
Read technical drawings.
Design and fabricate sheetmetal products, such as HVAC ducting, cladding including lobster-backs, piping, and tubing.
Use bench top tools and equipment.
Use hand tools.
Use machine tools for ductwork manufacture.
Weld stainless steel ductwork (TIG/MIG).
Stick weld metal (light fabrication).
Use CNC Vulcan / Camduct for ductwork entry into the computer.
Use a drafting package.
Have basic computer literacy skills.
Take site measures.
Obtain a police clearance / defence clearance.
Pour polyurethane foam insulation for pipework cladding.
Additional advantageous skills include:
Using the balometer for air balancing.
Understanding the SMACNA standards related to ductwork manufacture.
