The office of Anne Urquhart MP, Federal Member for Braddon is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Digital Media & Community Engagement Officer, based in the Parliamentarian's Electorate Office in Burnie, Tasmania.

Position Overview

The Digital Media & Community Engagement Officer is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic approach to the Electorate's community and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with the Chief of Staff, the role is required to organise community events, functions, forums and meetings, ensuring the Member is appropriately supported and staffed when they are in attendance.

The Digital Media & Community Engagement Officer has strong interpersonal skills, ties to the community and an ability to proactively develop effective working relationships with a wide range of community organisations, businesses and constituents.

DUTIES

1. Work closely with the Chief of Staff to organise community events, functions, forums and meetings, ensuring the Member is appropriately briefed and staffed when in attendance.

2. Refine and manage the Members media and communication channels.

3. Create visually appealing graphics, infographics, promotional materials and newsletters.

4. Capture impactful moments and candid shots during events, public appearances, and official functions.

5. Produce engaging visual content, including campaign videos and informative clips.

6. Work closely with the Chief of Staff to assist with and identify local issues for the Braddon electorate, ensuring the Member is kept informed on relevant issues.

7. Proactively reach out to community groups, organisations, businesses and constituents, building strong community connections.

8. Coordinate a diary for local community events within the Braddon area.

9. Coordinate with Office staff to develop and implement a targeted community engagement and campaign plan.

10. Set targets for and manage effective recruitment and training of members and volunteers to assist with field and campaign activities.

11. Undertake research to support effective electorate engagement and voter contact including support to the ALP Braddon branches.

12. Perform other duties as required.

KEY SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

· Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, ideally in the community sector, including the management of community events and outreach on behalf of others.

· Knowledge of public policy and local issues, as well as grants application processes or a preparedness and interest to learn.

· A well-developed understanding of local issues, the Government's agenda, and the broader political landscape, or an ability to rapidly learn.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of people and de-escalate sensitive and challenging interactions.

· Demonstrated ability to work well autonomously and in a team, showing initiative and problem-solving skills.

· Well-developed office IT skills, including familiarity with software such as, Microsoft Office and relationship management databases.

· Demonstrated high-level organisation, planning and coordination skills, as well as attention to detail.

· A driver's license.

· Understanding of the Braddon electorate, including consistent needs, issues and profiles or preparedness to learn.

· Familiarity with a range of graphic design and video editing tools, including Canva, Adobe Suite, Photoshop, iMovie, Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premier Pro, or an ability and willingness to learn.

Employment conditions:

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement which include:

· A commencing salary between $74,537 to $78,911 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.

· An additional optional Electorate Staff Allowance may be considered in recognition of, and compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work, ESA level 6 - $13,933

· Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).

· An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.

· An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.

· Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.

The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards and Australian Labor Party Code of Conduct and will be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
