About the Role
WorkCover Queensland is strengthening its digital capability with a focus on delivering trusted, accessible, and high‐quality digital experiences for Queensland workers and employers. Reporting to the Technical Delivery Lead, the Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack plays a critical role in the enhancement, optimisation and operation of WorkCover's headless Digital Experience Platform. The role strengthens in‐house technical capability, ensures platform stability and compliance, and delivers user‐centred digital solutions that support WorkCover's strategy, customers and communities.
What You'll Do
* Take technical ownership of WorkCover's content‐led digital platforms, shaping scalable, secure and high‐performing solutions that deliver measurable business and customer outcomes.
* Provide senior technical leadership across full‐stack development, balancing frontend experience, backend integration, accessibility and operational resilience.
* Lead solution design and delivery in a multidisciplinary team, guiding technical decisions, managing complex dependencies and resolving high‐impact issues.
* Collaborate closely with UX, content, product and business stakeholders to translate needs into accessible, compliant and user‐centred digital experiences.
* Champion modern engineering practices, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing to uplift capability, quality and delivery maturity across the team.
* Ensure digital solutions meet legislative, accessibility, privacy and security requirements within a highly regulated public‐sector environment.
What We're Looking For
* At least 5+ years' experience in backend development using .NET and C#, including designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
* At least 5+ years' experience in frontend development using React and Next.js, with modern modular CSS frameworks and component‐based approaches.
* Strong experience working with headless CMS platforms, with Sitecore Headless / XM Cloud experience highly desirable.
* Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, including automated build, test and deployment processes.
* Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 AA accessibility standards and their application in production websites.
* Experience working in digital experience teams, including collaboration with UX designers and product owners.
* Working knowledge of TypeScript (nice to have).
* Familiarity with atomic design principles and design systems (preferred).
