How you'll make an impact
As a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway, you will join a team of other carers, responsible for caring and supporting people with disabilities in their homes.
A day in the life as a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway may see you:
* Support participants to meet their goals particularly in alignment with their NDIS plan with a focus on safety, dignity, and client goals.
* Provide in-home support with health requirements, personal care and daily living tasks in alignment with the participant needs and the Care Team support requirements
* Assist with the delivery of activities to enhance the development of capacity and skills across physical, social, emotional, and intellectual domains
* Prepare meals and ensure dietary needs are met.
* Advocate for participants and empower with choice and control
Where required, provide:
o Assistance with medication administration
o Manual handling assistance
o Behavioural and Mental Health Support
What we're looking for
As a patient, flexible and understanding individual with a supportive and caring nature, ideally with experience within the disability or health care sectors, you'll have;
* Compassion and empathy to make a difference in people's lives. You must have experience with participants that have high needs and complex behaviour and must have good communication skills.
* A commitment to the rights of people with disabilities to live dignified lives
* Strong listening and communication skills and be detail-orientated
* A patient, flexible, understanding, supportive and caring nature
* An ability to accept responsibility and work as part of a team
Desirable, however not essential;
* Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
* Valid driver's licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
