About the Role
This is not a maintenance-only role, it’s a critical operational position responsible for ensuring irrigation performance across a large-scale municipal contract.
You’ll take ownership of irrigation systems servicing parks, sports fields, streetscapes, and highprofile public spaces, directly impacting turf quality, water usage, and contract performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Full responsibility for irrigation system performance across the contract
* Programming and optimisation of controllers to balance turf quality vs water efficiency
* Rapid response and resolution of system faults, leaks, and failures
* Preventative maintenance planning to minimise downtime
* Oversight of irrigation technicians and subcontractors
* Ensuring compliance with Water Corporation guidelines and local restrictions
* Accurate asset tracking, reporting, and system documentation
* Working closely with the Project Manager and Turf Specialist to deliver contract KPIs
What Success Looks Like
* Irrigation systems run efficiently, reliably, and proactively managed
* Reduced water consumption without compromising presentation standards
* Minimal reactive work, issues are identified before they escalate
* Strong integration with turf and operations teams
* High client confidence in system performance and reporting
About You
* Proven experience managing irrigation systems across large open space or municipal contracts
* Strong technical understanding of controllers, valves, pumps, and system diagnostics
* Ability to read plans, troubleshoot faults, and implement long-term solutions
* Experience leading teams or supervising field staff
* Commercial awareness, you understand the cost of water, inefficiencies, and downtime
* Confident dealing with clients and stakeholders
* Cert III in Irrigation / Horticulture (or equivalent experience) preferred
* Current driver’s licence (HR desirable)
