Cairns Jockey Club operates Ladbrokes Cannon Park, one of Far North Queensland’s most iconic sporting and events venues. Hosting an increasing number of race days, business functions and private events each year, the Club delivers a year-round calendar of premier thoroughbred racing, entertainment and hospitality. Signature events include the Cairns Cup and Amateurs Carnivals, showcasing the best of equine excellence, dining and live experiences in a vibrant regional setting.

The Opportunity:

Cairns Jockey Club is seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Administration Officer to manage the day-to-day administrative, financial and office operations of the organisation. Reporting to the General Manager this role is central to ensuring operational efficiency, financial accuracy and professional stakeholder engagement across the business.

Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Managing reception and front-of-house operations, including answering and directing calls, emails and correspondence, maintaining visitor registers, coordinating deliveries and ensuring a professional and welcoming environment
* Coordinating office operations including meeting scheduling, travel and accommodation bookings, catering, venue arrangements and preparation of meeting documentation
* Providing high-level administrative support across the organisation, ensuring records, databases, reports and stakeholder information are accurate, up to date and securely maintained
* Processing accounts payable, invoices, petty cash, employee expenses and reconciliations in line with organisational procedures and ATO requirements
* Generating financial reports, maintaining accounting records and acting as a key reference point for finance-related queries
* Managing payroll support, record keeping and compliance with relevant government and regulatory requirements
* Maintaining employee records, qualifications and licences, coordinating rosters, leave requests and performance review processes
* Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, HR documentation, position descriptions and performance management processes
Your Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in a senior administration or office management role, ideally within a multi-function or events-based environment
* Strong experience across accounts payable, reconciliations and general financial administration
* Working knowledge of HR administration, recruitment processes and employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act and relevant Awards
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
* High attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and error-free documentation
* Confident computer skills and experience using accounting systems, databases and Microsoft Office
* Professional communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal
* A proactive, adaptable and team-focused approach

The Offer:

This is a key administrative role within a well-established regional organisation, offering variety, responsibility and the opportunity to be part of an iconic racing and events venue. A competitive salary of $70,000–$80,000 is on offer, along with a supportive team environment and a stable, long-term position.
