Join our Finance team and play a key role in safeguarding Council’s financial assets.
About This Role
In this role you will:
- Support the Finance team to ensure solid internal controls and compliance with legislation, accounting standards, and Council policies to safeguard financial assets.
- Manage and maintain financial records and statements, including general ledger accounts and financial statements, ensuring integrity and accuracy of data, identify process improvements and provide expert advice and support.
- Oversee Council’s treasury and investments, ensuring optimal cash flow and minimising bank charges in line with policy.
- Manage banking and revenue systems to meet operational needs and comply with Council’s Cash Handling Policy.
- Maintain oversight of the purchasing card process and system and develop procedures, in accordance with Council’s Purchasing Card Policy.
About You
You will need:
- A tertiary degree or diploma qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field with some relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience.
- Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant) or CA ANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand), or working towards, is desirable.
- Knowledge of financial legislation relevant to Local Government, particularly the Local Government Act, Accounting Standards, and Regulations will be highly regarded.
- Intermediate / Advanced skills in the MS Office Suite.
