Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Deployment Manager to manage a team of engineers. The Network Deployment Manager will manage the planning and deployment of new data centre spaces as well as the build and expansion of remote management facilities. This manager will be responsible for growing the team and overseeing their development and growth.
Key job responsibilities
* Prioritize and assign tasks to deployment engineers and project managers, coaching and creating documentation.
* Manage tasks and deliverables across medium to large‐size projects.
* Manage projects across multiple AWS regions to ensure just‐in‐time delivery of new data centre spaces.
* Manage the installation of network and cabling infrastructure in a data centre environment.
* Guide, train and educate staff on best practices related to all service owner issues.
* Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
* Provide weekly reports to project stakeholders.
* Coordinate team resources to support project and delivery needs, including emergency projects, change management and maintenance window support, and potential off‐hours support.
* Recruit and train engineers to ensure appropriate staffing levels and host weekly staff meetings, driving compliance with Amazon performance‐management requirements.
Basic Qualifications
* Experience in people management and team development.
* Experience in engineering work, managing large‐scale services.
* Experience maintaining SLAs through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting.
* Experience operating a mission‐critical team or product.
* Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies installation and design, including network cabling, hardware, and test methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience representing your team or technical area to senior management.
* 5+ years of data centre, network engineering, and/or systems engineering experience.
* Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.
* Proven ability to partner with a variety of internal and external teams in setting technical direction, mitigating conflicts, and ensuring prioritization to deliver results quickly for stakeholder teams.
* High attention to detail, including effective customer communications, and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
* Proven expertise in setting strategies, directions, and motivating teams to achieve and exceed desired outcomes.
