Senior Mining Engineer Role Overview
This senior-level position plays a pivotal role in the underground operations team. The incumbent will serve as the key liaison between Technical Services and Underground Mining Operations, ensuring seamless coordination and identifying areas for improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and monitor short-term plans, including monthly and weekly schedules, to optimize production and minimize variance.
* Provide technical support and guidance on stope reconciliations, production analysis, and contractor management.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effective management of underground costs and provide input on annual budget and forecasts.
* Cover planning, production, and operational roles as required, leveraging expertise to drive business outcomes.
* Lead the identification, reporting, and management of potential hazards and work to eliminate risk-taking behaviors or actions.
* Maintain awareness of environmental risks and obligations surrounding underground mining operations to identify at-risk activities where specialist advice may be needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will require:
* A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
* WA First Class Managers Certificate of Competency (ideal).
* At least 5 years of mine engineering experience, preferably in underground settings, with expertise in planning, scheduling, ventilation, and D&B.
* Proficiency in mine design and scheduling software, such as Deswik Suites.
* Proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence activities and provide direction.
* Strong problem-solving abilities, with a track record of identifying and resolving complex issues.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey numerical and graphical information effectively.
* A positive attitude towards safety, with a commitment to increasing safety awareness and implementing training programs.
You will be either a resident of the Kalgoorlie/Boulder area or FIFO from Perth, working an 8:6 roster, Thursday to Thursday.
