An exciting opportunity has arisen for two compassionate, suitably qualified and experienced School Psychologists to join the TKS Team. We are looking for a Psychologist to work 2-days per week during term time within our ELC and Junior School (ELC-6), and a Psychologist to work 3-days per week during term time with our Senior Students (Years 7-12).
The School Psychologist plays an important role in supporting the social, emotional, and psychological well-being of our children and young people. The role requires initiative, discretion, expertise and varying levels of confidentiality in dealing with matters of importance to the psychological and emotional well-being of our students.
About the position:
* Provide short-term, confidential counselling as a triage service for students and staff to manage educational, social and emotional matters
* Refer to other health professionals as required for long term (longer than 1 term) or intensive support, diagnosis and/or counselling
* Administer appropriate psychometric and other tests to assess needs including learning, psychological and behavioural tests
* Play an active role in the Student Wellbeing Teams, providing professional advice and input into programs
* Provide support for the school community through publications, education sessions and advice
* Conduct activities such as student observation and psycho-educational assessment to determine the nature of student learning difficulties, disability, developmental levels or psychological and emotional status in order to make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions

The ideal candidate will have:
* Professional qualifications in Psychology enabling professional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Experience within an educational setting (desirable)
* A current National Criminal History Check (Police Check) and a Working with Children Check (WWCC)
* An excellent understanding of psycho-educational assessment
* The ability to apply a range of interventions appropriate for different issues and stages of development.
* Competency in providing effective individual and group interventions
* The ability to exercise appropriate professional judgement and the ability to work independently with little supervision
* A willingness to collaborate effectively with a broad range of key academic and wellbeing staff to enhance student outcomes
* Cognisance of ethical, legal issues regarding child safety, confidentiality, informed consent, referral pathways, case note documentation and security
* Knowledge and understanding of the School’s obligations in respect of Ministerial Order No. 1359, the Reportable Conduct Scheme, mandatory reporting, record keeping in relation to student safety and wellbeing, the failure to disclose and failure to protect offences (and any other information sharing and reporting obligations that may arise). Training will be provided
* Working knowledge of, and be able to, adhere to School policies and student safety practices, including those detailed in the Student Safety at The Knox School Handbook which can be accessed here
* A supportive and respectful attitude to students and their families and builds positive connections with all members of the school community
* A current Level 2 First Aid Qualification, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training (or willingness to obtain one). Training is provided by the school annually
