We're looking for a Quality Engineer to join the Architectural Coatings team based in Clayton, VIC, reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager. You will ensure Architectural Support to Operations in all Plants and drive quality improvement plans to improve efficiency and lower costs.

Responsibilities
* Administer the Quality Management System.
* Develop the quality standards and procedures.
* Develop the process flows and Value Stream Maps for cells.
* Conduct internal and external audits.
* Support the operators to resolve problems or clarification during manufacturing, testing, and filling processes.
* Troubleshoot QC Testing issues and provide technical guidance to the QC testers to ensure production flow continues.
* Investigate all the defectives passed out of specification batches, facilitate Root Cause Analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
* Manage and run improvements on key KPIs to Supervise production batches.
* Monitor and report key KPIs.
* Review for New Products/Process changes in the relevant systems, i.e., SAP, MES, QMS.
* Responsible for new product introduction process for business by conducting pre and post-batch 1 and product transfer review meetings with Technical, Planning, and Manufacturing personnel.
* Facilitate regular meetings between Technical and Manufacturing personnel to review issues, identify opportunities for improvement, and review the progress of improvement action plans.
* Issue Request-for-Revision (R4Rs) to Technical and follow through to completion within the agreed time frame.
* Assist R&D in resolving customer complaints.
* Understand plant hygiene practices and testings to ensure bacterial risks are eliminated or minimized.
* Process improvement.
Qualifications
* A degree in Chemistry or a related field.
* Formal qualification in laboratory management and quality assurance is well regarded.
* Working knowledge of ISO, APAS, and quality systems knowledge advantageous.
* Minimum 5-10 years in surface coatings or related fields with experience in waterborne formulations and paint manufacture.
* Understanding of Statistical Process Control.
* Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.
* Good understanding of quality assurance requirements and the disciplines required to maintain ISO 9001, APAS, GMP, etc.
