About the Role
Sigtech Solutions Australia is seeking an experienced Multi-Discipline Rail Construction Supervisor to lead works on active and brownfield rail projects. This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to someone who understands rail construction, can run crews and subcontractors, and takes personal responsibility for safety on site.
You will be accountable for supervising civil, structural, trackside, and associated rail infrastructure works, ensuring jobs are delivered safely, compliantly, and to program. This role suits a practical leader who is comfortable working in live rail environments, understands possessions and access constraints, and leads from the front.
Key Responsibilities
* Take
full responsibility for site safety
, ensuring all works are planned and delivered in accordance with WHS legislation, rail network rules, and Sigtech safety systems.
* Lead day-to-day site operations across multi-discipline rail construction works including civil, trackside, structures, services, and associated infrastructure.
* Conduct and lead
pre-starts, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site walk-throughs
.
* Ensure all SWMS, ITPs, permits, access approvals, and rail safety documentation are in place before works commence.
* Actively monitor site conditions and
stop work immediately
where unsafe conditions or behaviours are identified.
* Supervise and coordinate crews and subcontractors, setting clear expectations for safety, quality, and productivity.
* Manage daily and weekly planning including labour, plant, materials, possessions, and access requirements.
* Ensure subcontractors are inducted, competent, and working in compliance with site and rail safety requirements.
* Liaise closely with Project Managers, rail authorities, clients, and protection officers to coordinate safe work execution.
* Identify hazards early, implement practical controls, and drive risk reduction on site.
* Monitor quality of works and ensure defects and non-conformances are addressed promptly.
* Lead by example — demonstrating safe work practices, strong site discipline, and accountability at all times.
What We're Looking For
* Minimum
5 years' experience
in a supervisory role within rail or heavy infrastructure construction.
* Strong background in
rail civil, trackside, and brownfield works
.
* Proven experience supervising subcontractors in live rail environments.
* Solid understanding of
rail safety systems
, permits, access planning, and working in possession.
* Demonstrated ability to
own site safety
, challenge unsafe behaviour, and enforce standards.
* Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, rail network rules, and construction safety systems.
* Ability to read and interpret rail construction drawings, specifications, and safety documentation.
* Hands-on leadership style with a practical, no-nonsense approach.
* Strong communication skills across site teams, subcontractors, and rail stakeholders.
* Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and rail possessions as required.
