Greyhound Adoption Officer
The role of the Greyhound Adoption Officer involves facilitating a smooth transition for greyhounds into foster and permanent homes. This requires managing the adoption lifecycle, building strong relationships with carers, adopters, and stakeholders, and contributing to program development, event coordination, and database management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Recruit foster carers, arrange placements, oversee adoption journeys, and provide advice on dog behavior.
* Keep adopters, foster carers, and trainers engaged while maintaining records and handling enquiries.
* Identify opportunities to refine adoption processes and enhance programs.
* Work with the marketing team to showcase adoptable greyhounds and support adoption events.
* Arrange vet visits and ensure greyhounds are healthy and ready for their new homes.
* Participate in adoption days, liaise with trainers, and handle occasional after-hours calls.
Requirements:
* Understanding of greyhounds (desirable)
* Experience in a shelter or rehoming environment (desirable)
* Knowledge of the greyhound racing industry beneficial
* Demonstrated excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently
* Experience in social media, including Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
* Attention to detail and accuracy in the execution of work
* Prepared to work outside normal business days/hours
* Well-developed computer literacy skills within the Microsoft Office/Windows Environment
* Veterinary nurse qualifications/experience desirable but not essential
* Current 'C' class driver's licence
