We are partnering with an ambitious and growth-focused mining company in Broken Hill, NSW, to appoint aSenior Mining Engineerto play a key role in delivering high-quality mining engineering services that support both mid-term execution and longer-term operational success.
The Opportunity
In this newly created role, reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent you will have a real and significant impact on the future success of the company, taking on ownership and oversight of short and medium functions of mine planning, scheduling and ventilation. The role is offered on a residential basis in Broken Hill on a 5/2-4/3 roster.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure current and effective mine planning practices are implemented to enable a safe and profitable mining operation
* Complete medium term planning schedules and designs
* Supervise and provide direction to the Mining engineering team
* Liaise with other site and operational personnel to ensure activities are effectively reported and the direction and activities of the department compliment other operations on site
* Supervise and provide direction to the Mining engineering team
* Maintain high standards of performance and adopt a proactive approach to WHS issues to ensure compliance with statutory requirements
Candidate Profile
* Degree-qualified in Mining Engineering or a related technical discipline
* Underground mining experience (and ideally have completed your underground time)
* Demonstrated understanding of the use of modern mine design and scheduling software such as Deswik
* Thorough understanding and experience in Underground Hardrock Mine Planning, ideally including sub-level stoping and pillar extraction.
* Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements associated with underground mining
* Be prepared relocate to Broken Hill (Relocation and housing subsidy is available)
