Consultant Urological Surgeon – Role Overview
Launceston General Hospital invites applications for a Consultant Urological Surgeon to join our dynamic and expanding team. Serving a population of approximately 300,000, our unit provides a comprehensive Level 6 Urology service across North and North‐West Tasmania, along with statewide sub‐specialist services.
Our urology department is renowned for its supportive and collaborative culture. You'll be joining a team of four experienced urologists, supported by a team of registrars, a SET trainee and a clinical nurse specialist. We have access to state‐of‐the‐art equipment, including a da Vinic XI dual console robotic platform.
Responsibilities
* Operating in the Main Theatre Suite at LGH.
* Operating in the Day Procedure Unit at LGH & MCH.
* Seeing patients in the Outpatient Clinic at LGH & MCH.
* Weekly Grand Rounds.
* Provide consultative service for other specialty units.
* Supervise junior medical staff in the unit.
* Participate in unit and departmental management meetings.
* Participate in continuing education meetings.
* Teach clinical staff (doctors and nurses).
* Ensure accurate clinical records are maintained for each patient.
* Oversee the quality of care provided by junior medical staff.
* Undergraduate teaching, including tutorials for students of the Tasmanian Medical School.
* Teach junior medical staff.
* Participate in clinical reviews and research activities at LGH.
* Research is encouraged with funds available through the Clifford Craig Foundation.
* Activate the call‐back system.
* Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training.
Qualifications
* Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty (essential).
* Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent (desirable).
* Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed.
* Ability to meet pre‐employment check requirements (crime, discipline and identification checks).
Salary and Benefits
* Visiting Medical Practitioner level 1–4 salary range: $280,161 – $490,097 per annum (pro‐rata) plus 12% superannuation and access to salary packaging.
* Urology Specialist Allowance of up to $110,000 per annum (pro‐rata).
* Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees.
