Development Planning Arborist – Contract Role Hourly Rate: $47 - $52 Super Duration: Monday 16th June – Friday 5th September 2025 Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week Location: Council in Melbourne’s northern suburbs A council in Melbourne’s north is seeking a qualified and experienced Development Planning Arborist to support their planning and development team during a busy period. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an immediate impact, supporting urban development while protecting and enhancing the urban forest. Key Responsibilities: Assess planning proposals involving tree removal, pruning or potential impact to trees. Provide expert arboricultural advice and prepare clear, professional reports. Investigate potential breaches relating to vegetation protection and assist with enforcement. Liaise with planning officers, residents and stakeholders to resolve tree-related matters. Act as Council delegate in decision-making processes for relevant applications. Ideal Candidate: AQF Level 5 (Diploma of Arboriculture) or equivalent experience. In-depth understanding of arboricultural practices and local planning frameworks. Knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act 1987. Confident communicator with strong report-writing and problem-solving skills.
