The joint venture combines experienced local personnel with global resources and expertise.
Terra Verde is delivering nearly 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between Glen Waverley and Box Hill, including 39 cross passages and two station boxes at Glen Waverley and Burwood in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, as part of the Suburban Rail Loop Project.
This is the largest infrastructure project in Victoria’s history, shaping Melbourne and Victoria for future generations.
About the opportunity:
To support the delivery of the Terra Verde JV, we are seeking applications from experienced Mechanical Superintendents to plan and deliver activities related to installing, commissioning, maintaining, decommissioning, and disassembling plant and equipment for site activities, reporting directly to the Tunnel Plant Manager.
As the Mechanical Superintendent, you will lead the mechanical team during the assembly, commissioning, start-up, production, and maintenance phases of all underground machinery necessary for the twin tunnels of the Terra Verde joint venture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate the setup of plant, equipment, and means as per project requirements and industry best practices following plant management instructions.
* Oversee daily maintenance activities on site for the overall plant.
* Coordinate with mechanical engineers regarding spare parts availability based on priorities from the tunnel plant manager.
* Ensure the necessary materials, tools, and machinery are available according to instructions from plant management.
* Instruct TBM mechanical supervisors to perform inspections and maintenance safely and efficiently, supporting mechanical engineers in reporting maintenance activities.
* Collaborate with Safety, Quality, and Environmental teams to ensure operations meet all project and industry standards.
* Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships at all levels.
* Minimize maintenance stoppages.
* Manage industrial relations issues and develop resolutions.
* Communicate construction planning effectively to TBM mechanical supervisors and the workforce.
* Assist in identifying training needs and coordinate personnel training.
* Ensure company policies and procedures are communicated and implemented by construction personnel.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience (at least 5 years) leading plant teams for EPB TBM maintenance on large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Experience in relevant trade and construction operations of similar scale.
* People and performance management skills for subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labor.
* Ability to review design documentation, understand drawings, and implement constructability reviews.
* Strong leadership in risk management and fostering a positive risk culture.
