**Volunteer HR Manager SteamRanger Heritage Railway**
SteamRanger Heritage Railway is seeking a dedicated and community minded individual to join our organisation as a Volunteer HR Manager.
SteamRanger operates some of South Australias most iconic heritage rail services, powered by a passionate volunteer workforce. As our HR Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, engagement, and effectiveness of our volunteershelping ensure the continued preservation and operation of our historic railway.
**About the Role**
As the Volunteer HR Manager, you will:
- Support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and records management
- Assist with role placement, training coordination, and compliance requirements
- Help maintain a positive, supportive culture across all volunteer teams
- Provide guidance on volunteer issues, wellbeing, and general HR processes
- Work with SteamRanger leadership to ensure smooth and safe operations across the organisation
**Support & Mentoring**
We will mentor and support the successful applicant, regardless of prior HR or rail experience.
Our experienced team will provide guidance, induction, and ongoing coaching to help you feel confident and effective in the role.
Commitment
Ideally, the HR Manager will be able to meet with volunteers and team leaders at least once per week to support communication, continuity, and volunteer engagement.

The successful applicant will work approximately 15 hours per week in this role. These hours will be flexibly distributed across the week, including some weekend work. Duties may be performed in the office or from home, depending on operational needs. The position also requires some afterhours commitments, such as attending our monthly Board of Management meeting.
