Kelton Rentals is a growing plant and equipment hire business specialising in well-maintained, reliable machinery and professional service. We are seeking an experienced Operations/workshop Manager to oversee workshop operations, fleet readiness, and day-to-day service coordination.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who understands plant, machinery, and the importance of uptime, safety, and accountability.
Management experience is required to effectively lead teams and coordinate operations across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day service and maintenance operations across the hire fleet
* Plan and oversee preventative maintenance, repairs, and breakdown response
* Coordinate mechanics, service providers, and parts suppliers
* Ensure all equipment is hire-ready, compliant, and presented to standard
* Manage service records, maintenance schedules, and compliance documentation
* Liaise with yard operations, logistics, and hire staff to minimise downtime
* Implement and maintain workshop systems, procedures, and reporting
* Monitor costs, parts usage, and service efficiency
* Lead by example in safety, quality, and professionalism
About You
* Proven experience in plant, heavy equipment, automotive, or fleet management
* Willingness to conduct equipment maintenance & repairs when required
* Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues and prioritise work
* Confident leading people and managing multiple moving parts
* Organised, reliable, honest and solutions-focused
* Comfortable with systems, reporting, and basic computer use
* Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Essential Requirements
* Valid driver's licence
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical if required
* Hours of operations 6.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday
* Non-smoker/ vaping (work environment and company vehicles are smoke-free)
* Commitment to safety and company standards
Desirable (but not essential)
* Trade qualification (mechanical, diesel, or similar)
* Experience with hire equipment or construction machinery
* Understanding of NHVR, plant compliance, or service documentation
