Chef
Full time – 38 hours per week.
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, supervising kitchen operations, and ensuring consistent quality of Japanese dishes. Experience in Teppanyaki performance cooking is highly regarded and considered an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
* Menu & Food Preparation
o Plan and develop menus, including seasonal specials, cost estimates, and portion controls.
o Prepare, cook, and present high-quality Japanese dishes, with a focus on Teppanyaki and related cuisine.
o Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation to meet company standards.
* Kitchen & Staff Supervision
o Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow.
o Train, mentor, and guide junior cooks and kitchen assistants.
o Maintain rosters and assist in scheduling staff to meet operational needs.
* Operational & Food Safety
o Order and manage stock, monitor inventory, and control food costs.
o Ensure compliance with workplace health & safety and food hygiene standards.
o Conduct regular checks on equipment and maintain a clean, protected kitchen environment.
* Customer Interaction (Teppanyaki Advantage)
o Deliver live Teppanyaki cooking experiences that engage and entertain customers.
o Interact professionally with guests, respond to special requests, and enhance the overall dining experience.

Required Skills
* Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher (or equivalent overseas qualification).
* At least 1 year of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
* Demonstrated ability in menu planning, stock control, and staff supervision.
* Teppanyaki cooking experience is highly regarded.
* English communication skills are required. Additional language skills such as Chinese and Cantonese may be beneficial but are not essential.
