About the Facility
Brentwood Aged Care on the NSW Central Coast is an 82‐bed home set within Brentwood Village, surrounded by gardens and a tranquil lakeside outlook. The facility offers modern, homely rooms, a dedicated Memory Support Unit and multiple lounges and outdoor spaces for relaxation and social connection. We are looking for a Lifestyle Assistant to join our aged care team at Brentwood Aged Care, in a Part Time capacity.
About the Role
Working under the direction of the Facility Manager and Lifestyle Coordinator, this position is responsible for the person-centred implementation of leisure, lifestyle and therapy activities with the residents within the Aged Care Facility. The functions of this position are to promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of residents, by partnering with residents to be involved in the meaningful activities of their life. This position is mainly for Weekends - Saturday and Sundays on a Part-Time basis - 5 Hours per each day. Additionally, the successful candidate will also be doing occasional Admin/Reception duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Plans for and implements meaningful activity that recognizes resident preferences, including personally significant cultural and spiritual practices, to enhance and optimise their wellbeing.
* Follows residents' care plans in the provision of person-centred support during leisure, lifestyle and therapeutic activity.
* Supports residents to follow infection control and other relevant safety practices.
* Optimizes resident cooperation by actively building trusting relationships with individuals that are based on dignity and respect.
* Monitors for and reports deterioration of resident health and/or function.
* Works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to organize and facilitate communal celebrations and other special events including fundraising activities.
Skills, Attributes and Experience
* Completion of Certificate IV Lifestyle and Leisure or Allied Health
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated understanding of person-centred principles and the ability to engage people in meaningful activity
* Demonstrated understanding of the needs of people with dementia in relation to leisure and therapeutic activity
* Previous experience working with people with dementia
* First Aid Certificate (current)
* Valid Driver's Licence (Car)
* Working knowledge of WH&S legislation and practice
