International company requires a Senior Packaging Development Engineer with minimum 5 years experience in packaging technology and/or packaging strategy development. Appropriately qualified with strong technical competencies in packaging science.
FMCG, QSR packaging experience desirable.
You will provide functional (Project Management and Packaging Development) and strategic leadership in delivering packaging technology solutions, and have the ability to lead significant, multi-phase packaging development programs with a cross-functional teams.
Programs include preliminary concept development, testing and validation through to execution.
Of importance are customer satisfaction, operations improvement, sales growth, productivity/cost savings, environmental impact and profitability.
You will be aware of the latest packaging legislative requirements and be able to articulate these.
It is expected that you will be appropriately qualified and have strong technical competencies in packaging science, including knowledge of substrates, structural design and manufacturing processes. Experience in Foods, QSR, FMCG or Packaging manufacturing is desirable.
The Role
The Senior Packaging Development Engineer will support all customers across Australia with the development of sustainable packaging, which is commercially appropriate. This includes providing functional and subject matter expertise to customers and assisting them with appropriate legislative requirements to deliver packaging technology solutions.
Experience in Foods, QSR, FMCG or Packaging manufacturing is desirable, as is the ability to build strong supplier relationships.

* Have a clear understanding of relevant packaging legislation to ensure the most appropriate solutions are applied.
* Communicate with company leadership teams and work with other departments to ensure effective delivery of milestones and project execution
* Coordinate packaging testing, including tests at supplier facilities and elsewhere, to validate the performance of the package against operational and consumer criteria
* Regularly review and challenge common processes; propose improvements and standardise packaging specifications.
* Participate in supplier review meetings to provide supplier performance feedback

* Minimum 5 years in packaging technology and/or business/packaging strategy development
* Experience in Foods, QSR, FMCG or packaging manufacturing
* Knowledge of packaging forms, coatings and conversion processes
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Packaging Technology or equivalent
* Analytical approach to problem solving and decision making
* Excellent communication and facilitation skills
* High level of collaboration and teamwork
* Strong relationship / strategic partnering skills
